For The Love of Italian Food...

Happy New Year! We are back from our Christmas culinary journey in Italy. We are as always well fed and well rested after spending a week with my husband's family.

Have you ever eaten spaghetti with squid ink? We did and it was delicious and requested to be cooked by her grandmother by my husband's 6 year old niece who is Canadian. We also ate artichokes which were as beautiful to display as a table centerpiece as they were to eat...Not to mention the clams, and cod and prawns and wild boar stew on Christmas! And the porchetta (roasted pork) and zuppa inglese (something like a sponge cake and a pudding) and the wine and coffee and chocolate and champagne!

Back in London where it's freezing by the way, I am slowly weaning myself off of sweets and large meals and would like to think that I would already be back in the gym if I wasn't so happy just to be snuggled up in my cozy apartment with my husband, dreaming about his mother's tagliatelle in beef ragu.

Sounds like a fantastic Christmas week menu! Any chance that there are recipes or pictures forthcoming?

Hi In the Left Lane, thanks for your comment. I just posted pictures from our trip but stupidly we took very little food pictures. We were too busy eating! My husband did get a good shot of the squid spaghetti. I'm going to wrestle up some recipes from my mother in law and post them soon. take care, 88
